TIE BOOKS DOWNLOAD PDF: Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) is a public institution within the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology with the main responsibility of interpreting the education policy in the country and putting it into curricula and programs of learning materials with the aim of providing quality education at all levels of education. primary, primary, secondary and teacher training colleges.

TIE was established by law no. 13 of the year 1963 and called the Institute of Education as a unit within the Affiliated University of Dar es Salaam with the main responsibility of coordinating the work of providing teacher training in the Affiliated University of Dar es Salaam and the efforts of the Ministry of Education in improving teaching and learning in schools and teacher training colleges.

The institution was renamed as the Tanzania Education Institute (TIE) by Parliament Act No. 5 of the year 1993. This change was due to the previous name of the Institute for Curriculum Development not reflecting the broader responsibility of the institution.

In July 2009, TIE was given the status of being a non-university institution of higher education that provides training managed by the Tanzania Technical Education Authority – NACTE with the responsibility of providing training in the field of Innovation and Curriculum Development.

The basic functions of TIE are:

1. Designing and developing Curricula at the levels of primary education, primary education, secondary education and teacher training colleges

2. Provide training to trainee and in-service teachers to bring efficiency and better results to curriculum implementation.

3. Provide and review the quality assurance of education regarding teaching methods, learning objectives and standards of teaching and learning tools.

4. Providing expert advice to the government through the Ministry and education stakeholders aimed at improving education at various levels.
