Mzumbe University was established by its Charter of 2007 enacted under Section 25 of the Universities Act, 2005 (Act No. 7 of 2005) which repealed and replaced the Mzumbe University Act (Act No. 21 of 2001). Mzumbe University’s origin can be traced back to 1953 when the British Colonial Administration established a Local Government School in the country.
