ABOUT NECTA

NECTA is a government institution established by Law in 1973 with the responsibility of administering national examinations in Tanzania. Before 1973, all national examinations were administered by the Curriculum and Examinations Section of the Ministry of Education after Mainland Tanzania had pulled out of the East African Examinations Council in 1971.

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) was established under the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973 with the responsibility of administering all National Examinations and Assessments in Tanzania.

WHAT IS PSLE?

PSLE Stands For Primary School Leaving Examination. The Primary School Leaving Examination is a national exam for Standard Seven pupils. This is a selection test which enables the government to select form one entrants for its schools. Students who get selected and those not selected receive certificates. PSLE is administered in the second week of September every year..

Eligibility for the Examination

Any pupil who has completed standard seven in both government and private schools can be registered and sit for this examination.
